Xbox 360 Achievements - Ruining Online Gaming

I have to admit - I love achievements, I de facto do. I love that small "blip" when you've did something that will increase your gamer score. I have to reputation the whole achievement ideas with de facto reigniting my love for video gaming. There's just something de facto fun about beating a game, then having it constantly listed beside your username, to show the world that yes, you played Gears of War 2 on insane, and you lived to tell the tale.

I've also found Xbox 360 achievements have helped in group settings. I was out with a few population a month ago, and there was one person there I had never met before. The topic of video games came up, and as we both had Xbox 360s we swapped gamer tags just for the hell of it. I went out with that same group of population a incorporate of weeks later, and I spent most of the night just talking to that guy, chatting about the achievements he had, and that I had. He even asked for advice on how to get a bigger gamer score, as he has a competition going with one of his co-workers.

I promised him next time we go out, I'd bring Avatar with me.

So yeah, I'm a big fan of achievements, and I have a 75k gamer score to prove it. However let's be honest - the term is "achievements" is just a tad ambiguous. I'd appraisal less than 30% of all possible achievements are actual true achievements. Now that's fine - sure, it's a bit sad to sit there with a printed off map for 5 hours shooting and killing 200 pigeons just to show the world that you did it - but at least you have something to show for it. It was a lot sadder looking all those hidden parcels to 100% earlier Gta games "just because".

My only question - and it's a big one, is online achievements. Because as the title of this record suggests; they're ruining online gaming.

The inspiration from this record came when, after a nice dinner, I sat down to chill for an hour and play some Fifa 2010. I find playing against the Ai is rather boring, so I like to go online and play people. Now online play can be frustrating at times, especially in sports games when population quit out after they start to lose, but it's something that I just have to suck up and live with - because that's the way many online games are.

Achievements have made it a hell of a lot worse.

I started up a game of Fifa 2010, and within seconds of kickoff my opponent got the ball, ran to his own net and scored an own goal, then immediately quit. What? Why did he quit that early? Why did he score an own goal? I assume it was just some sort of internet association question or just person messing around, so I went to play person else. Seconds into the match, this person got the ball, ran to his own net, scored an own goal and quit on me too! I was wondering if there was problems with Xbox Live so I messaged the person and asked. He replied:

"Sorry bro, doing it to get an achievement."

What? Quitting games seconds in for an achievement? That doesn't make any sense. So I logged on to the internet to check, and sure enough: there's an achievement entitled Bad Loser. To get the achievement you have to quit 5 xbox live matches when you are losing.

Seriously, what the hell?

Now this is a 0g achievement - it won't work on your gamerscore, but it's still an achievement nonetheless, and you're all the time going to have population going for it - population who like to get as many achievements as possible, no matter what they are, what you have to do to get them or what they are worth.

So Ea deliberately put in an "achievement" which essentially encourages players to lose and quit matches.

I wish this was just a one-off, but in reality the majority of online achievements found in games are ones that disrupt the whole point of online play. Thankfully they're not all that bad, but de facto - if you're sitting there playing an online game and going out of your way to do something you de facto shouldn't be doing - you're ruining the whole point of online gaming.

Let me give a few examples of achievements that disrupt online gaming, some exact to games, and some achievements you can find in a majority of games:

Blitz The League: Lose 5 games in a row online. So you can sit there and play people, and they'll just let you win, taking all the competition out of it, just so they can get an achievement.

Call of Duty 3: There are achievements for getting up to 40,000 total points in online multiplayer. The best way to do this is to be the person that scores the flag, or secures the Hq. So if you have an achievement junkie on your team, don't even think you can count on them to back you up, or look out for you and your team, because they're going to be doing it just for themselves, so they can get that costly 120 gamerscore points.

Play Every Map/Gametype: This is a popular achievement found in games, where you have to play every sort of game mode like Deathmatch, Capture the Flag etc, or every separate map. Why exactly is this an achievement? What you often get is population going for this achievement, and not de facto caring about the game itself. Some of them even start up the game, then go off and do something else, just so they can get that achievement.

Another one that is similar to the above is play X whole games of multiplayer. Again, it encourages population to just join up and let it sit there.

Kill X whole of enemies with ____(insert weapon here): Now okay - I can understand Why so many online games have this sort of achievement - it encourages variety, but again it comes at the price of online play. It's happened to me way too often - playing a team deathmatch, and half my team members are spending their time lobbing grenades or trying to stab the opposite team with a knife, just to get a lousy 10g.

Frontline Fuel of War: This one de facto has an achievement for killing Yourself 10 times in a multiplayer game. There's nothing I like more than teaming up with person who is going to spend the whole game throwing grenades at their feet.

Battlefield Bad Company: Man, where do I start with this one? Let's see - 15g for hanging back at the gold crates and letting 20 teammates die and respawn on top of you. Destroy 1000 walls and knock down 1000 trees rather than you know - try and help your team? - for 15g each. Battlefield Bad company 2 is even worse. "Hey, think you can go a sniper and cover us from afar?" "Sorry, I'm going an engineer and will kill person with my fix tool - it's 15g you know!". "Hey can you give me some cover fire?" "Sorry, I already killed person with my M60 and my Rpg-7, I need to go knife person now."

I'm not anti-achievements, really. I love them, and I have a 75k gamerscore to back that up. I'm in the Mile High Club. I spent 5 hours freeskating in Skate. I've killed 7 chickens in under 10 seconds in modern Warfare 2. I've even saved my game of Fallout 3 at Level 19, just so I could go back and redo it again, getting to Level 20 with all 3 separate types of karma.

What I've never done however, is disrupt an online game or other persons enjoyment just for the sake of achievements. And de facto - is it worth paying over a year just to meet population who spend the game jumping off high ledges, deliberately losing or hiding out in a corner?

Because I don't think it is.

Your Virtual Think Tank Online in performance

More and more Think Tanks are going virtual, as the coordinator for the Online Think Tank, I have watched many emulators try to cash in on the Internet to build mass request for retrial for Think Tanks. For instance, the Democrat party has decided to use this format of Think Tanks Online to task its collective opinion. George Soros even planned on funding nearly 100 million to Think Tanks to promote his political agenda. Maybe this is an postponement of the MoveOn.org group and it does make some sense, as their goal is to shape the political climate.

Is this a allowable venue for a think tank - politics? Well, sure it is if the think tank has the integrity to let citizen know that it is a political think tank, with a exact agenda, if not it should be likened to propaganda or even false advertising, misdirection or trickery.

Now then the Online Think Tank that we run has nothing to do with politics, truly the subject does come up, but more or less as a component of implementation, knowing that many decision makers make recommendations and vote safe bet ways on issues that best serve, well themselves. This is not political satire or condemnation, it is what it is.

The Online Think Tank crosses all socio-political boundaries and we side with one party one little and another the next, as what we are most curious in is thought, concepts and solutions to serious problems which plague mankind or offer a note of hope for the send progression of mankind. Our topics are wide and vast, how so you ask? Well, here are some topics and subjects we discussed today.

Is inordinate Noise is Toxic for Your Health?

It was recently noted in a investigate task that exact frequency manipulations near plants caused assorted Dna switches to change the growth patterns in plants, thus affection the plants at the cell level straight through vibrational energy. What about humans - what happens when they are exposed to inordinate noise? Well, studies show that noise causes poor sleeping patterns, stress, anxiety, pulse rates, heart rates, thus it can very much sway one's health. See the issue, and this is an on-going topic at the Online Think Tank that truly transcends political lines.

Why Do citizen Often Name Their Pets the Same Thing?

Hey, that is my pets name too! It seems that many citizen are not all to creative with their pet names. Many dogs go by the names of Spot, socks or bear, while many cats are known by Fluffy, Tiger, kitty? The paramount Six Wise Ezine, stated the most beloved Dog and Cat names. For dogs they showed most beloved were Max, Jake, Buddy, Maggie, Bear, Molly, Bailey, Shadow and Sam. For cats were Tigger, Tiger, Max, Smokey, Sam, Kitty and Sassy. Do you have a pet by that name? What about your friends and why is this happening?

Man Created God - In Second Life

What would Second Life be without a God, so one was created, even though man also created second life in the first place - so, apparently man does not want the prestige for creating this world and therefore will not have to take the blame if the whole thing is doomed to repeat and crumbles in folly. This whole condition begs the question:

If man created God in Second Life who is to say that he did not originate a God or Gods in this life? Well we know he did originate both myth and legend in former periods. So how do we know that God is real after finding all this evidence? Well, it should be safe bet that god is not a divine thing at all, but rather an invention of man and the superstition stuck as it struck a cord with man's little intellect and need for buildings and answers.

Business 2.0 Magazine Calls it Quits - They Should Have Hired the Online Think Tank

It seems that business 2.0 could not hold their store share against other similar magazines, so it will be an online ezine now. One record stated that the advertising pages was down 35% in 2007 and one can only guess that Google AdSense has stolen much of their volume and sales, after all the print magazine business 2.0, owned by Time Warner, was a lot about the high-tech and Internet World in the first place. business 2.0 was one of the longest running magazines of its kind and outlasted the best of them. Ecompany was also previously merged into business 2.0, but if the advertising sales are down, the corporate media axe cometh.

Does this mean the final phase to Internet Advertising is upon us - is Tv next? think if you will that surveys now show for the first time that citizen spend more time online than watching Tv. business 2.0 had a subscription list of 600K and was available at nearly every legitimate newsstand and bookstore that sells magazines.

Cell Phone Monitoring - Intent of the Caller is Known

There is now new software that can tell how agitated you are when you are talking to a call center, and the law specially routes your call and warns the operator in India on the other line of the question status level of your call. So what you say can be used against you in the court of the call town now? Much of this software is now being used, as a Threat estimation Tool, by the division of Homeland Security, as well. Interestingly adequate this tool can be used for many things. Call Centers now can tell if they are about to lose you as a client, but if you get transferred to a call town in some foreign country, then the business ought to know you are already on the hunt to replace them.

The software can tell by the pace of your speech, the voice inflection, emphasis on safe bet words and the time you pause between your comments or questions. So, no more faking it, you may as well tell them what you truly think, as they think they already know.

Free VoIp service if You Accept Advertisements Based on Your Conversation

Tired of paying your phone bill, well one business will offer you free VoIp service with an trade that you will accept pop-up ads on your computer based on the conversation you had. So, if you say something about a cafeteria in a exact city, a bunch of them will appear on your screen while you are talking. You talk about a country and American Airlines ticket counter website pops up with a direct link. The startup business says it is trading your facts for free phone service. Some citizen are worried about privacy, others like their beloved four-letter word - Free! Starving College Students, citizen on fixed earnings or just miserly citizen might truly go for it - would you?

The Online Think Tank did a witness in a very liberal area and many were put off by the idea, and yet any said they would do it, if it were offered. Additionally, we asked the mean phone bill and it seemed to be about .00 and if you invest .00 per month from the time you are 20 years old until you retire with aggregate interest in stock store growth, you could have a third of your relinquishment covered, tantalizing isn't it?

The way the law works is with an Artificially tantalizing software program, that picks our key words from your voice and chooses the closest advertisements to them, displays them and collects your phone bill from the advertisers? You are letting corporate America pay for your phone bill for the privilege of entering your once secret space. You decide, we are still mental on it.

Paris Think Tank Puts Our Media Hit Against the Us economy and buyer Confidence

The Federal preserve knows that at least a third of the Us economy is based on "feelings" or buyer confidence. When citizen are worried about the economy they buy less and that is bad for sales, economic growth, jobs and it lowers the Gdp. Thus, what is said in the media, matters and it matters a lot. When a foreign government that has a vested interest in surviving the housing prestige crunch in the Us, starts putting out media releases that the Us economy is tanked or the Fed must have a swift and robust respond or the Us economy will crumble, this affects buyer confidence and they know.

It is like a store maker touting a stock, in a way it is very diengenuous and it can become a self-fulfilling prophesy. It is meddling in our financial markets. As you know many foreign banks did high risk loans at the top of the housing bubble and they want to survive, but is putting negative facts in the mass media honest. No way, it is incestuous stated the Online Think Tank and it is fraudulent and more than an apology is deserved after the fact. The Fed did lower rates to stave off the prestige crunch, but much of the mental was the buyer confidence levels. If media controls that much of the economy, by simply putting out false information, then who truly is running things? Hmm?

Vulture Value Investors charge Real Estate store with Low Ball Bids

Florida Trends Magazine reported that; "Joseph Long's efforts to raise 0 million to buy as many as 1,500 homes and condominiums from Southwest Florida builders is piquing the interest of well-heeled speculation firms." So, what is a near economic disaster for some maybe an opportunity of a lifetime for person else. In case, granted no big last little Hurricanes wipe out the Great Sandbar of Florida this might prove a very good move in five years time, but we shall wait and see, it is a risk, but the inherent upside is tremendous indeed.

Other investors doing the same thing include; Carl Ichan, Steven Cohen, Eddie Lampert, Palisades Investments, Zilbert Realty Group, Peter Zalewski and Raymond James Capital. Even Ge Capital is finding this as a good play for its industrial Real Estate speculation Trust. Very tantalizing and as things continue to deteriorate we may see the same things happening all around the country. For those willing to take the big risks there may be some healthy gains down the road, huge Rois.

I Do Not Think the Romans would Appreciate Us Abusing their Numerals

As the Online Think Tank sifts straight through assorted proposals we find that many citizen do not understand how to make an figure or how to found their thoughts, which prompted one of our Think Tank Members to say; I do not think the Romans would appreciate us abusing their numerals. I laughed as did the rest of us, but it makes you stop and think, how unfortunate it is that citizen cannot supervene such straightforward rules, especially with all the word processing programs available. One skill that is needed, whether you go to college or not is how to get ready an figure and if one cannot do it, then go get a robust word processing agenda like Microsoft Word 2007 for gosh sakes?

Over 60s Dating - finding for a Purse or a Nurse?

For those who are older folks that do Online Dating, it should be noted that many of these older folks who are truly finding to get married again, are truly finding for person to provide for them. They are finding for a Nurse or a Purse in their older age years. person to pay for things or person who will take care of them in case their health fails. Although this is the big joke in places like Los Angeles' West Side in California - there is a bit of truth to it. So, one has to wonder if the online dating services are aware of it and if so, why not just make some new categories, after all the over 60s crowd is now blogging big time in many areas.

Over Paid Pre-Madonna Football Athletes Deprive Fans and Disgrace the Game

We all like to have Bbqs and get togethers and often for the men of the household this includes a good high-definition, large screen Tv foot ball game while eating snacks or having a few drinks. One of the Online Think Tank members watched an very high-paid athlete both in endorsements and in salary, run out of bounds as he encountered two-large tacklers, Maybe he did not wish to break a fingernail. Sure, it is understood that there are some risks one should not take, if they want to live long and prosper for many years in football - but by the same token, fans pay big bucks and we want to see full contact. So, the players should still try for the extra yard and take the tackle for the fans, otherwise the fans are cheated for what they came to see or watch on Tv.

Human Religion in Prison - Poor Use of Self-Esteem Building

Most prisons in the United States have Chaplin Services and they assist prison inmates in production peace with their maker and allowing them to ask for forgiveness. Unfortunately, the prison employees tell us that many inmates attend services merely to get out of their cells for an hour or two, to attend services. Nearly all inmates seem to claim that they found god at their parole hearings, maybe so, but that should not be a factor at all in the decision process. The rates of recidivism is too high, something distinct needs to be done, because this is not working - god cannot seem to cope this one.

China Predicting World Economic Slow Down - But Who Caused it?

China is watching world markets carefully, as they sell their wares to the rest of the World, but now China is expecting an economic slowdown. Why, well they cite the Us economy as entering a downturn in the business cycle and they expect that will hurt their growth. Yes, if that happens it will truly hurt their growth and yet, one has to ask, why they have not bothered to monitor their own growth, take it a little slower and not take such advantages of our free trade policies. By not floating their currency, not handling their environmental issues and not allowing more Us trade to enter their nation - Maybe China will contact them selves what they have allowed to occur from a non-win-win standpoint. They would be much better off to take advantage of other Western Policies in trade if they truly want to supervene long-term.

Retail Sales Tell it All for the Financial Stability of the United States

Retail Sales have been hammered lately in the Us and that does not make the Christmas Season look too promising either. Some figures showed a barely negligible gain; still this does not make investors of sell stocks too happy. One big issue is with buyer borrowing and pull backs with tighter reigns from prestige card companies. With Housing down, auto sales down, prestige tighter, buyer confidence barely squeaking by with a C- mean and the government curtailing expenditures, a downturn in the business cycle is possible, stepping back that is. The issues with trade deficits and oil prices are also a big hit on the economy and all that is very serious too.

Is Human Evolution Occurring - Are Humans De-evolving or Progressing?

Is full, enlarge is being made in human evolution, have we progressed with all our cities, jet aircraft, infrastructure? It appears so, says the Online Think Tank. Sure, the send enlarge is in the right direction albeit slow, but evolution in complex systems ordinarily is slow to safe the law from things changing too fast and upsetting the balance. Chaos is so easy to occur and buildings takes pre-planning and time.

What might an alien species say in observation of the human accomplishments? Alien species you ask - where and what do they look like? Well, the speculation seems plausible, and yet, we see so many other forms of life on Earth, who is to say. The most enlarge found would be able to live in a minimalist environment, thus Maybe "no body" or anything similar to what we might perceive. The ultimate and most efficient, would be a goal of no boundaries, no body, just energy, alive and well?

Verbal Stories of Vietnam Vets filled with bad facts and fraudulent testimonies

A website for Vietnam Vets shows that WikiPedia is not the only website with occasional embellishment? And of course, I guess this lets John Kerry off the hook for any extra write-ups he and his friends did in order to get free medals of valor. Indeed, it seems Virtual Medals of Honor are just as good these days? Or are they.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20853588/

But if we know that these oral stories comprise so many falsehoods then we also know that other handed down tales or stories are erroneous, and thus how can we trust "any" historical biblical record? If it was not written on the dead sea scrolls, then it is probably wrong and who is to say that those scrolls were truly first hand knowledge anyway? Sure you can consider it and say the historical record is definite but judging by the gift period, I am unconvinced. In fact, all human history, handed down by tales or written is most likely hogwash. Dare to care to debate?

As you can see from just some of today's Online Think Tank discussions, a Think Tank that operates exterior religious bias, political bias and without preconceived notions requiring exact outcomes; can in the end become more honest with their solutions, objective opinions and therefore has the best chances of solving problems in the gift period. It should be noted that we are not lambasting the competition, they draw adequate attention to themselves, rather we are merely stating the safe bet for those who care to participate in the intellectual process.

In the end we hope to not be jaded or compromised in our mission to solve problems and come to the solutions that are the best for all concerned. I hope this truly clarifies our position and gives you the confidence needed to Maybe join us in your thoughts. Sincerely, Lance.

Small enterprise Marketing Tips - How to Get Noticed Online

In these tough economic times, it is more leading than ever to utilize these small business marketing tips to ensure that you get the most out of your marketing and advertising dollars. Being aware of vital data such as how much you spend to gather each buyer and where that buyer comes from is no longer a luxury but rather a matter of survival. You must have systems in place that will article and track this type of facts so that you can decree which of your advertising and marketing methods are producing the best results for your business. This type of facts is not always unavoidable because of the number of factors involved, so you must rely on written data to good sustain your analysis.

Tracking Your Advertising

One of the most leading business marketing tips you can implement is to have your staff politely asked every singular hope how did they hear about your business. Every time someone calls into your office or enters your business, your staff should be request "How did you hear about us?" I also advise that you take it one step further, if appropriate, and try to get a miniature bit more information.

For example if they say I heard an ad on the radio you can ask "Do you remember what hub it was?" or if they say "I saw an ad in the newspaper [or magazine]" you can ask "Do you remember which one it was?" Some habitancy will not remember exactly where they saw it or don't want to be bothered telling you, but even if you got that added data only half the time, you would still be ahead of the game. This is particularly useful especially if you're advertising in multiple places using the same type of media.

Tag Your Advertisements

Another business marketing tip to help you track your leads is to tag every ad with a unique discount code. For example, you could say something like "Mention coupon code Abc and receive 10% off." An alternative to this would be to have some fictitious postponement as part of your phone number to receive a special offer so the caller would ask for postponement 123, and your staff would retort "I can help you" and would article that number (say, on a spreadsheet) which would be associated to a specific ad or Tv spot. Of course all prospects would still receive the same offer regardless if they remembered the specific code or not but you would be surprised how many habitancy would make it a point to remember exactly where they saw the advertisement and what the code was in order to receive the added bonus or special offer.

Prospects Versus Customers

Additionally on your spreadsheet, you should also be tracking either that hope converted into a sale or not. This is vitally leading because you may be getting lots of responses to one singular type of marketing or advertising, any way you may find that the majority of your sales are de facto arrival from some other ad or medium. Tracking your responses is de facto an leading part of your overall marketing program. Ultimately however, you are only curious in where your sales are arrival from. Obviously you want to invest your advertising dollars where they will produce the most return.

By implementing these small business marketing tips and making them part of your general operations, you can begin to see increased profits in your business and more productive advertising. You can also gain a strategic edge in your marketplace because most of your competitors will not be employing these methods.

Connect a TV to Your Laptop to Watch Netflix Movies Online

Many laptops, and some desktop Windows PC's include a special socket that connects to most TV sets.

If you have S-Video sockets on both devices, buy a cable. A 12-foot long cable sells for under on eBay or Amazon.com. The cable will cost considerably more if you buy it at a local store ( to $50+).

50 Ft. Usb Cables

The S-Video socket is round, has two pins on the left side, two pins on the right side, and keyways at the top and bottom. If you'd like to see a photo, go to images.google.com and search for s-video.

If you have a desktop PC, inspect the cards and sockets on the PC (front and back). If your desktop PC has a powerful video card, it's more likely to have what you need.

Plug the cable into both devices. Turn on the TV and switch it to the Video Input that matches the socket (a label near the socket tells you which Input).

You must reboot the PC. Windows "finds" the TV during Windows launch. The TV may flicker a few times. You cannot usually add a TV or second monitor while Windows is running.

Next, we'll configure the monitors so Windows has a Desktop that's double the width of your current Desktop.

Right-click on a blank area of your Windows Desktop and you'll get a menu. Click on Properties (or Personalize), then click the (Display) Settings tab.

Click on the icon of Monitor No. 2 and you should get a message asking if you wish to Enable it. Click Yes.

Change the resolution on both monitors to 800 x 600. You can try higher resolutions, but they may not work.

Enable the check box named "Extend my Windows Desktop to This Monitor." Click Apply or OK.

If everything is in place, you should see your ordinary Desktop and icons on your laptop monitor, and a copy of your Desktop background without any icons on the TV set. Your Windows Desktop now extends across both monitors. Test by moving your mouse pointer to the TV set.

Simpler video cards don't have the resources to carry colors, so the second monitor may be Black & White. Try another PC, or settle for B&W, or you can try choosing fewer Colors.

If the TV set is to the left of your laptop, click and drag the #2 monitor icon so it's to the left of the #1 icon, just to avoid confusion.

Launch your internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome) and go to the Netflix (or other) website. Choose the movie you'll Play online. Make sure your browser is not "full-screen" -- click the little box/double-box at the top right corner to make your browser slightly smaller than full-screen. Now you can click and drag the top of the browser to one side and drop it on the TV set. Click the box/double-box and it will expand to full-screen on the TV.

Click "Full Screen" in the bottom right corner of the Netflix player to get rid of the menus and backgrounds. Click the center of the screen to begin Play. Move the mouse to the laptop Desktop to make the controls disappear. If you have nice speakers, connect them through the headphone jack of your laptop to obtain richer audio. You may also listen through headphones, or a double-headphone jack (Radio Shack, ).

Enjoy your movie.

If the Screen Saver pops up, right-click on a blank area of the laptop desktop, click Properties, and set the screen saver to 200 minutes. Remember to change it back when you're done.

To Pause your movie, point the mouse to the TV set. You'll get a Play/Pause button on the bottom left corner, and a scroll bar that shows the film's progress.

To drag the browser back to the laptop monitor, you'll have to click the box/double-box to make it less than full screen. You can also launch another instance of your browser so you'll have one on each Desktop/monitor.
